The classic definition of power is the possession of control, authority, or influence over others. This seemingly small word can transform the lives of those who possess it, for better or worse. Countless fairy tales, poems, and anecdotes in multiple languages warn us about the dangers of misuse of power. History itself has seen the rise and fall of empires in the pursuit of power. However, power isn’t the root of all the issues associated with it. It is an intoxicating elixir that can make the average person famous or infamous overnight.
Mere drops of water make an ocean, and the same applies to power. If anything is not managed within limits, it can quickly become poisonous. We know that growth is essential for everyone, but the greed to attain more power in the name of growth must not be confused with self-satisfaction. When a greedy person embarks on a journey to fulfil their desire for power, they end up losing themselves in the process. They ultimately fall to their fatal end from the pinnacle of the tower of power, all because of their hunger for more.
With great power comes great responsibility, so we need to remember the real reason behind wielding power. Society can only grow when everyone comes together and works as one, leaving differences aside. It is common knowledge that power is inversely proportional to time, but if achieved by putting energy in the right places, it can make a world of difference!
