SUPERMOMS

"They are not kidding when they say that mothers are strong women. We need to be strong in more ways than our children will ever know." — M.B. Antevasin

Every mom on this planet is the epitome of love, strength and sacrifice. There is no one particular way of handling motherhood and over centuries millions of women have been redefining the term ‘MOM’. On this occasion of mother’s day GT gives a shoutout to those powermoms who have achieved great heights professionally yet given their 100% to one of the most strenuous yet satisfying job of all time- ‘being a mom’.

Indra Nooyi-

First woman CEO of PEPSICO, second most powerful woman in the world in the field of business and mother of two. Like any other corporate mom Indra too always saw herself at crossroads trying to choose which role to give more justice to- CEO or MOM. According to her such tuff situations were encountered by her even 3-4 times during the day and a lot many times she had to choose the former. But having been inspired by her own dutiful mom, Indra would come up with coping mechanisms and make compensations for her kids missed matches, pta meetings , coffee mornings at school, Etc. According to her one of her husband’s biggest complaint is that she doesn’t think twice when it comes to choosing between her duty as a wife or as a mother. This is her love and commitment towards it and despite her feeling she hasn’t done enough justice to it, her kids feel that she has been a great mom in the most unconventional ways. Such is the strength of this successful lady.

Chanda Kochhar-

“As a parent with a full time job, one must not let work affect the way you relate to your family. Remember the time you were studying in the US and the announcement of my becoming MD and CEO of ICICI was splashed across all newspapers? I remember the mail you wrote to me a couple of days later. 'You never made us realize that you had such a demanding, successful and stressful career. At home, you were just our mother,' you wrote in your email. Live your life in the same way, my darling.”- an excerpt from her recent letter to her daughter. CEO of India’s leading bank- ICICI isn’t an easy job but Chanda Kochhar is one of those few ladies who with their sheer grit and determination  have strived to strike a balance between personal and professional life. She has also come up with initiatives to ensure other women at the workplace can streamline their work to be able to do justice as being moms. Kudos to her for her understanding of the importance of being a mom and inculcating  its importance into her professional career too.

Melinda French Gates-

This co-founder of the world’s most successful and largest organization – Microsoft, is one of the few who have achieved excellence professionally yet remained true to their personal roles. According to her to inspire her kids to make a change in the world she had to start making a difference. This exactly is the principle behind the Bill and Melinda gates foundation. There were times when she would miss out on a lot of her kids activities like dance recitals, soccer matches but she feels satisfied at the end of the day knowing that she is working towards making this world a better place for her kids to live in. Cheers to this lady who is trying to make the lives of millions around the world better yet, taking time out to take care of the needs of her own.

Angelina Jolie-

Beautiful woman, Talented  actress , successful entrepreneur, a woman who needs no introduction. But ask this lady who has donned many hats what role gives her the maximum satisfaction and without a blink of the eye she would say it’s being a mom. Be it while shooting on sets or on a tour, making sure her kids are done with their homework, ate on time and have gone to bed are things that are always on her mind. The centre of her life is her kids and she knows no matter what, this is a commitment she will keep up for the rest of her life. A strict disciplinarian , this Hollywood diva ensures that her kids are brought up with humility and inculcates human values. Mom with a magnetic personality yet making ample time for her kids, she truly deserves a very happy mothers day.
