Change is not merely necessary to life - it is life.
-Alvin Tofler
The concept of ‘change’ can be unsettling to most of us. In fact, the majority of us would prefer to shy away from changes, no matter whether they are big or small. There are numerous reasons which cause this aversion towards change. But all these reasons boil down to one cause – fear of change.
Though we may fear it, change is inevitable. We must either learn to adapt or will get left behind. We often resist change because we are accustomed to the way things are at present. We are afraid of what the future holds and keep pondering over uncertain situations, worrying about losing our comfort and security. This fear of the unknown can result in us clinging to the status quo, no matter how good or bad it is.
Change is unavoidable. Rather than ruminating over possible scenarios, accept it and move forward. Moving forward doesn’t mean giving up entirely on your former situation. Rather, you’ll have valuable memories, skills, and relationships to carry along.
Change can be uncomfortable. But if you never change, you will never know what could have been. Put simply, if you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always got.
To avoid stagnation in life, change is essential. So, instead of getting overwhelmed and letting unwarranted fears haunt you, it’s better to embrace the course of change and make it your own along the way. Life will become more wholesome and holistic if you learn to accept and be part of the natural ebb and flow of life.
