The Students Association of CEG organized a lecture on the right way to approach Civil Service Examinations at the TAG auditoriumon February 12, 2018 at 5:30 pm and was attended with enthusiasm and vigourby students of all four years alike.

The event was graced by the presence of Chief Guest, Dr.C. SylendraBabu, IPS who is serving as the Additional Director General of Police of the Railways, Tamil Nadu. He is the recipient of numerous awards such as the President’s Medal for Devotion to Duty. He has actively trained aspiring civil service candidates for the past two decades.

Starting his speech with the history of the field of civil services, he spoke of the ingenuity and sense of duty upheld by officers throughout the ages. He then engaged the audience in an interactive session on why they wished to pursue a career in the field of civil services. The students actively participated by answering his questions. He drove home the point that in order to serve the society better, a position of authority is needed and civil services will help pave the way to that position.

He regaled the audience with stories from his many years of service. He also narrated the stories of his own students who fought their way to success and accomplished many things in their field. These anecdotes proved to be inspiring and motivational to many students. He proceeded to give tips on what to expect in the exams and how to prepare for them. He encouraged a wholesome reading habit among the students and stressed the importance of confidence.

The evening was indeed a very enlightening experience for many in the audience. Dr. SylendraBabu’s guidance was helpful to all the aspiring IPS candidates.
