In a world increasingly flooded with fleeting digital content, the Ragalahari Arts and Cultural Academy offers a refreshing contrast—a vivid, live space where classical music breathes, flourishes, and evolves. Their Carnatic Concert Series, conducted on July 18th 2025 at Narada Gana Sabha Mini Hall, Chennai, is a beautiful showcase of Carnatic tradition, emerging talent, and community learning. Whether you are a student of music or simply a lover of soulful soundscapes, this concert offered something profound.
The journey began with a heartfelt inaugural address kicking off the series. More than just formalities, the speech set a philosophical tone—emphasizing the importance of commitment to the art form, and the role of music in shaping inner growth and discipline. Esteemed personalities such as Mr. Thiruvarur Bhakthavathsalam, Mrs. Meera Santhanagopalan, and Mr. Calcutta Sankar graced the stage with their inspiring speeches. Bhakthavathsalam sir’s words on rhythmic discipline resonated deeply with young percussionists, while Meera mam emphasized the spiritual essence of Carnatic music. Calcutta Sankar sir offered a historian’s lens, connecting today’s performances to the rich lineage of past masters.
Many Vidhwans, Vidhushis and students gave heart-melting performances amongst which, Master Avyukth Sunilkumar’s performance can be considered as the highlight of the series. He delivered a powerful vocal performance that balanced structure with spontaneity. His raga alapana and kalpana swaras were executed with clarity and confidence, making it a true masterclass in Carnatic music. Master Sesharaman Krishnan finished the concert series up with a moving, intricate performance. His confident handling of complex ragas and rhythms left the audience with a sense of fulfillment and reverence for the classical idiom.
This immersive experience would not have been possible without the generous support of Athulya Senior Care, the event's sponsor. Their commitment to promoting holistic well-being and cultural enrichment for all generations made this musical journey accessible to wider audiences and reinforced the intergenerational power of tradition.
These concerts serve not just as performances, but as living lessons in interpretation, improvisation, and devotion.
