"ITRIX 18 -testing the limits" raised its curtains with the official inauguration ceremony at Ada Lovelace Hall on 9th February, 2018 at 3.30 pm. The symposium of the IT department was graced by the warming presence of Chief Guest, Mr.Ashok Krish, Head of Digital Workplace Practise, who also heads the Digital Workplace Reimagination Initiative at TCS. The auditorium teemed with IT engineers from all four years including the freshers, whose eyes were glistening out of curiosity!
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Mala, the President of ISTA, following which the Treasurer, Mrs. Niranjana spoke about the achievements of the department. She also mentioned about the internship guidance and placement classes that were being conducted by ISTA. The other dignitaries on the dais also shared their inspirational thoughts . The Head of the Department, Mrs. Saswathi Mukherji spoke how the field of Information Technology has reached new heights and has thrown light on emerging technologies and futuristic scope. After that Mrs.T.V.Geetha gave a motivational talk insisting every student to nurture their knowledge and hone their skills to stand out of the crowd.
Then Mr. Ashok Krish addressed the gathering on the "future of work". He talked about some unbelievable technological advancements like how ATM card patterns are identified using data recognition without any human intrusion. He amused the crowd by remarking that the number of people who own a mobile phone are more than those with a toothbrush these days!
Mr.Deepak Kumar, the overall Coordinator of the symposium, highlighted the signature events and workshops which were to be conducted and flaunted with pride that all workshops had filled up fast. He also added that for the very first time the association had received sponsors worth Rs.6 lakhs! The speech delivered towards the end by Mr. Varun Nagarajan, a technology enthusiast and Mr. Sreenivasan, an alumnus of CEG, on bitcoins and blockchain was the cherry on the cake!
