Last moments

Her knees were always on the clear, white marble floor. She sees her mother toiling and wiping the floor every day to keep it tidy for her to crawl. In an attempt to reduce her mother's workload, she tries to get her knees off of the floor. Catching hold of a nearby chair, she stands up. Her mother's surprised face catches her attention; she waddles into her mother's arms. On seeing her mother smiling ear to ear, she decides to continue her waddling as usual. That was the last time she ever crawled. Remember the last time you crawled? It sounds like it happened so long ago.

Every day, every moment, something is happening for the last time in your life. Without realizing that, you are rushing forward not to miss anything new while missing out on everything old. There are so many last moments you probably have already missed. The last time you were carried by your father, kissed goodbye at the school gate, slept on your father's chest, listened to a bedtime story, let go paper boats on puddles, ate your favourite candy, saw your crush, the last time you tied an exam paper, you hugged your friends, you said: "I love you". The list continues.

Your life has so many such last times and last moments.

Live in the present and appreciate every moment. Life is unpredictable. You may look back and realize that this moment was the last time for something. Hug your loved ones tightly, and don't let go until you can't breathe. That may be the last hug. Pick up that call. That may be the last conversation with them. Don't go to sleep with a fight. You will regret the last words you said to them. Be thankful and appreciate all the little things in life. It may seem insignificant today, but looking back, this might be your happiest memory. Make your last moments beautiful so that the future you smiles at the memory of it. Remember, all we have is now.
