The campus glistened with the arrival of grey tags this August. It is a time of the year when the transience of college life is poignant, the graduation day feels inexplicably near. As for the freshers, the grey tags, the two-week long induction programme served as a prelude to their new phase of life, to get them accustomed to the hustle and bustle of the university.
The Induction programme was held from 28.09.2023 to 09.09.2023 in the Varsity. The schedule for this programme was designed in an articulate manner. Every day started with an emphasis on sports through campus runs and yoga sessions since sports provide an overall holistic development. Then it is followed by Universal health values, which focus on the overall aspects of physical, mental, and social wellbeing.
The following session – the creative arts nurtured creativity among students. The students were allowed to choose from the list of Art provided by the university which included Western dances, Clay modelling, Embroidery, Silambum, Karate, etc. During this part of the day, a stroll through the road adjoining the Vivekananda auditorium felt flamboyant with the forms of art synchronising with one’s soul.
The Afternoon session began with Communication Skill Development, which was incorporated to improve the soft skills of the budding engineers. The rest of the afternoon had a plethora of events – department activities, motivational talks, personality development workshops (like self-defence and gardening), club introductions, and sports activities. The final day, 9th September 2023 witnessed a spectacular showcase of talents from the freshers indeed, the auditorium scintillated with brilliance.
Being the official media body of the campus, The Guindy Times had the privilege of witnessing and capturing these sublime moments. We wish the grey tags good luck, sound health and success in all their endeavours.
