The Department of Chemistry organized their symposium Effervescence on 26th February,2016. This is the second time they are organizing a symposium in our college.
Effervescence was inaugurated by our Dean, Mr. Narayanasamy Palanisamy at around 9:00 am. The chief guest was Dr.B.Gopalan, CEO and executive director of Orchid Pharma. He gave the invited talk on synthetic challenges of drug design.
There were totally 9 events which included technical and non-technical domains. Most of the events took place in and around the Hall of 1960. One significant event was paper presentation where second year M.Sc students presented their papers and the B.Sc students also tried to bring out their ideas and contents. The non-technical events were all fun games which included ADZAP, Chemtune etc. Wondering what Chemtune is? Well, a student has to sing songs which relates to chemistry.
The symposium was organized in an orderly manner with technical events and guest lecture in the morning and more fun events in the afternoon. All the staffs of the Chemistry department were an integral part in making sure everything ran smoothly. There were more turn ups from different colleges compared to last year. The entire fest was wrapped up by 4:30pm.
We, at the Guindy Times wishes the Department of Chemistry a very good luck to grow bigger and hope that there will be even more colleges joining in next year for their symposium.
