BEHIND THE SK!REENS
This series from Guindy Times gives insights about what it takes to organise Kurukshetra 2020 by interviewing 10+ teams
An Interview with CTF's QAC team
Interviewer: Pradhakshya (GT)
Interviewee: SIVARANJANI A (MAT SCI) ,AMRIN TAJ S (CSE)
GT: Tell me about your journey with CTF.
Sivaranjani: I’m Sivaranjani from the Material Science department. I have been a part of CTF right from my first year and have worked in different domains. Now, I’m proud to introduce myself as a student director at CTF, Core of Guest Lectures. I have also got Amrin Taj from the CSE department as my co-core for the same. It has indeed been an amazing journey working with seniors and juniors.
GT: What is your domain about?
Sivaranjani: The domain I work for is “Guest lectures”. Kurukshetra being a techno-management fest, we get people from different walks of life like engineers, environmentalists, photographers and so on to come and give lectures that are both informative and inspirational.
GT: How do you contact the speakers for the event? And what difficulties do you face in the process?
Sivaranjani: Firstly, we usually look for the speakers’ contact details online. We mail/contact their managers and ask them if they could give a guest lecture. Sometimes, we go on to check the different personalities invited at other institutes like IITs, NITs etc. and collect their contact details. The first and foremost difficulty our team faces is contacting the speakers. Other problems we face include convincing the speakers to come and give a lecture, costs, and of course marketing for the event.
GT: What do you think people get by working in your team?
Sivaranjani: Working in our team has got a lot of perks. Firstly, we would get to talk to famous personalities. Also, we get to build a good network with a lot of people from colleges, offices etc. And of course, a guaranteed fun experience without a doubt!
GT: How have you planned to make the guest lectures different this year for K! 20?
Sivaranjani: Usually, the guest lectures are held during the days when Kurukshetra actually happens. But this year we have changed the guest lectures to K! TALKS. K! TALKS is also a promotional event for K!20. For the first segment of K! TALKS, we got 2 extraordinary speakers- Mr. Mylswamy Annadurai, Former Director of ISRO and Mr. Sriram, Founder and CEO of PrimeFort. We are really elated to have such an overwhelming response from the student community every time we conduct an event. Looking forward to have the same response for the upcoming lectures too!
The Guindy Times thanks the Guest Lectures team for their time and wishes them all the very best for the upcoming event.
