“Part of the journey is the end.”
Avengers: Endgame is a visual masterpiece of a film which justifies the above
statement wholeheartedly. It is a wonderful and fitting ‘end’ to the “Infinity Saga”
of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), comprising 21 other movies preceding
this beautiful flick, originating right from Iron Man.
The plot picks up from where it left off in Avengers: Infinity War. It revolves
around our remaining heroes who survived Thanos, a.k.a The Mad Titan’s snap of
decimation and their quest to defeat the forces of the genocidal warlord, as well
as to resurrect their friends and families whose existences were wiped off from
the face of the planet.
It is a marvellous experience in itself to establish one’s presence in the theatres to
relish each and every second of this movie. The story of this film is perfectly
balanced (like all things should be) with action-packed fights and scenes which
make one ride on emotional rollercoasters. It creates an immersive realm wherein
one may find themselves in the middle of the film, witnessing their favourite
characters almost as if they were entities who existed in real life.
The characters in this movie have much more depth which is a result of
development from the previous films and within the film itself. Gazing at our
beloved characters who have toughened up both physically and mentally, and are
ready to vanquish the forces of the wicked fills the audience with a ray of hope
throughout the film. We get to see the triad of Iron Man, Captain America and
Thor in action, something which the fans have been anticipating for a long time
since Infinity War debuted. Hawkeye and Ant-Man, who were missing in action in
Avengers: Infinity War gets to shine in the limelight as well. Captain Marvel, who
recently made her debut in the MCU, also joins our heroes in their adventure.
If one lists down movies wherein fanservice is done right, then surely, Endgame
deserves to hold a position in that list. It was an absolutely insane experience to
blend in with the crowd in the theatre and shouting in unison at certain scenes
which induced goosebumps in every individual present at the movie.
The cinematography and computer-generated imagery (CGI) are out of the world.
It was a feast to the eyes to see the brilliance of filmmaking channelled into the
battle scenes and other smooth, well-paced scenes. Coupled with an amazing
score of soundtracks, especially the iconic Avengers theme playing wherever it
was needed was all Avengers: Endgame needed to radiate all of its brilliance right
into the souls of the viewers.
Overall, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Avengers franchise are not merely
‘films’ per se. The characters are inspirations by themselves, with each character
possessing unique qualities and morals, which are definitely takeaways from the
film. The genius minds of the directors, the actors, the scriptwriters and every
single person credited for being instrumental in the success of these movies are
to be lauded immensely for providing us infinite joy whilst watching these films.
Avengers: Endgame also served as a platform for everyone to bid farewell to their
favourite superheroes, for the MCU is welcoming us to embark on a new journey
with the introduction of the next generation of superheroes.
“Fun isn’t something one considers when waving goodbyes to the heroes close to
their heart…but, having travelled with them throughout this whole expedition
does put a smile on my face.”
– Every MCU fan ever.
