A Bud That Blossomed Too Soon

Agonizing pearls of sweat

Nothing short of her cascading unshed tears

A heart unbeknownst to the burden weighing it down

With a soul lost, longing to be found

Glimpsing from the windows of her dystopia

A distant yearning glance at her peers

Playing with the toys she made

And living through fairy tales in her utopia

She walked past the chains of freedom clinging to her wings

Clenching onto her wage between her bruised fingers

Few cents traded for her millions of dreams

Donning a smile synonymous to a melancholic melody

She swept past her workplace

Like a zephyr amidst gales

To her home on a familiar trail

Like a faultless felon waiting for a trial
